The Mille Lacs Area is a special place and its uniqueness is reflected in the variety of activities and events scheduled throughout the year. With a little research you'll find a dozen reasons to come to the Mille Lacs Lake area with your family and friends.

There are spectator sports including, snowmobile races, fishing tournament weigh-ins, softball tournaments and more. There are participant events including golf and fishing tournaments. There are cultural and arts festivals. There are traditional events like small town 4th of July celebrations and city play days throughout the summer months.

Mille Lacs Band's Annual Pow Wow

Date: August 20, 2010 - August 22, 2010

Event Description

American Indian dancers from across the country will participate in traditional dances and drum ceremonies during the 44th annual Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Powwow

Before each day’s dances, there is a Grand Entry, in which the dancers dressed in brightly colored regalia proceed onto the powwow grounds for an opening ceremony.  The Grand Entry times are:

Friday at 7:00 pm

Saturday at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm

Sunday at 1:00 pm


Along with the powwow, the event will include princess and brave contests; food; crafts; raffle drawings; adult and youth horseshoe tournaments; a parade on Saturday, and a fun run sponsored by the Mille Lacs Indian Museum.  All events will take place at the powwow grounds.

No alcohol, drugs or fireworks allowed.
