The Mille Lacs Area is a special place and its uniqueness is reflected in the variety of activities and events scheduled throughout the year. From festivals and celebrations to arts and entertainment, you’ll find many activities every year throughout the Mille Lacs, MN area. Annual events include snowmobile races, fishing tournament weigh-ins and ice fishing contests. There are cultural and arts festivals such as the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Pow-Wow and there are traditional events like small town 4th of July celebrations and city play days throughout the summer months.

Event Description:
Welcome everyone to the 2nd annual Fishing For A Cause ice fishing tournament. This year it will be held on the beautiful Lake Mille Lacs at the Red Door Resort.
All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the CVCC floor at Children's Hospital of Minneapolis. Join us for a family fun day on the ice to raise awareness for CHD!!

Admission starts at 7:00 am in the event tent on the ice.
Rules in the event tent are at 7:40 am
Tournament start at 8:00 am
Tournament ends at 3:00 pm
Weigh in scale in the event tent shuts off at 3:40 pm
Prizes and raffle in the event tent at 4:00 pm

Species eligible for tournament are Walleye, Northern Pike, Perch and Crappie.

  • The whole lake is fishable for the tournament.
  • All fish entered into the tournament must be caught during tournament times.
  • Must show proof of a valid Minnesota fishing license.
  • Only DNR regulations approved fish may be entered into the tournament.
  • Only 1 fish per person may be registered for the tournament.
  • Tournament is based off weight per specie.
  • Any fish not weighed in by the 3:40 pm deadline will not be eligible for registration.
  • Any persons found cheating will be immediately disqualified and forfeit their admissions.
  • Ice houses, wheel houses and any other shelters may be used during tournament times.
Free coffee, hot chocolate and cookies are available in the event tent while supplies last.
